All-round safety
Forester is equipped with a whole suite of safety features. Revolutionary facial recognition technology* monitors the driver’s attention, Reverse Automatic Braking* detects trouble you don’t see coming, and EyeSight® Driver Assist acts as a second set of eyes on the road. And that’s just the beginning.

EyeSight® Driver Assist
Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist technology is world-class and category-leading safety technology. With dual colour forward facing stereo cameras intelligently and discreetly placed on your windscreen, EyeSight® Driver Assist scans the road ahead for unanticipated dangers. It’s like having a second pair of eyes looking out for you. This advanced system provides extra awareness, safety, and added peace of mind every time you drive.
EyeSight® is designed to actively help drivers in avoiding frontal collisions, lane drifting and low speed impacts. It can ‘lock on’ to vehicles directly in front and, when used together with adaptive cruise control, can slow, stop and accelerate to maintain a safe driving distance.
EyeSight® can also recognise pedestrians, motorcycles and cyclists within its field of vision. Depending on conditions, EyeSight®, can use pre-crash braking helping to minimise any impact and damage. If the speed is less than 30 km/h, the car may be brought to a complete stop prior to impact.

5-Star ANCAP Rating
The work we’ve put into the revolutionary safety features in the Subaru Forester hasn’t gone unnoticed. ANCAP1 awarded it a 5-star safety rating solidifying its reputation as one of the safest SUVs on the market.
1. The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) gives consumers consistent information on the level of occupant protection provided by vehicles in serious front and side crashes.
Auto Vehicle Hold (AVH)
Forester knows how to stand its ground. With Auto Vehicle Hold, hydraulic brake pressure holds it firmly in place. The wheels keep their traction and you move forward without rolling back.

Driver Monitoring System (DMS)
Distractions can happen at any moment, just ask any parent. Forester’s revolutionary Driver Monitoring System1 uses tech to keep you tuned in to the road. Driver Focus uses a camera to monitor the driver for signs of fatigue or distraction and warns them if it detects that the driver is not focused or keeping their eyes on the road ahead.
1. Driver Monitoring System performance and capability dependent on environmental and technical conditions. Refer to Owner’s Manual for full details. Driver Monitoring System not available on Subaru Forester 2.5i AWD.

Subaru's Vision Assist
We believe in being fully present in every moment, especially on the road, which is why Subaru's Vision Assist comes standard in all MY21 Forester variants. Radar sensors detect approaching vehicles and the system warns the driver. All MY21 Forester variants also have Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert to help you anticipate other cars when you reverse. Subaru Forester 2.5i-L AWD, 2.5i Premium AWD, 2.5i Sport AWD, 2.5i-S AWD, Hybrid L AWD and Hybrid S AWD also add Side View Monitor, Adaptive Driving Beam, Front View Monitor and Reverse Automatic Braking.

Structural Safety
We’ve honed every tiny detail in the Forester, starting with the biggest thing. The new Subaru Global Platform puts passenger protection above all else. A stronger chassis and improved rigidity improve collision energy absorption by 40% over previous generation models, and higher-strength tensile steel panels and increased impact resistance help reduce the risk of passenger injury in both frontal and side collisions.
Visibility
Every moment on the road is safer with Subaru Forester’s superior driver visibility. The open glasshouse, slender pillars, minimal blind spots, and airy sunroof1 let in plenty of light. Plus, because life is unpredictable, cameras even let you see behind you to help ensure everyone’s safety.
1. Available on Subaru Forester 2.5i Sport AWD, 2.5i-S AWD and Hybrid S AWD only.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
While you’re in the moment and focused on the road, the Forester is focused on the tyres that grip it. The TPMS will alert you when the pressure is low. You may not be constantly thinking about your tyre pressure, but the Forester is.
